The #1 Waterproof Roof Membrane: HYDROTECH Membrane 6125

Viotell is proud to be one of HYDROTECH’s Utah partners. HYDROTECH is a recognized leader in the development, production, and distribution of premium waterproofing and roofing products. With over 400 projects in Viotell’s collection of success, we prioritize quality in our materials and work, that’s why we only partner with the best in the industry.

HYDROTECH’s Monolithic Membrane 6125 is a common material to be worked into our roofing projects. The Monolithic Membrane 6125, or MM6125, is a roofing or waterproofing membrane particularly adept at controlling water intake on roofs. It’s often used on concrete surfaces and can be applied to both flat or slanted roofs. This article will dive into what MM6125 is and why you may want to use it for your next project.

HYDROTECH’s Monolithic Membrane 6125

What is it?
This is American Hydrotech’s flagship product coined as the original hot fluid-applied rubberized asphalt membrane for waterproofing and roofing applications. It is characterized by being:

  1. Thermoplastic: It is made entirely of solid materials, so there are no liquids that could cause on-site curing failures while the membrane is setting. It also has no VOC restrictions, meaning there are no issues with harmful chemicals being released into the air.
  2. Conforming: It fits itself perfectly against any surface irregularities such as bumps or uneven areas and adheres strongly to an acceptable substrate (materials such as concrete, steel, wood, etc.). This prevents water from getting between the membrane and the surface it’s applied to.
  3. Monolithic: It forms a single, continuous line without any seams ensuring water doesn’t leak through weak spots on the roof.
Self Healing & Accommodating: The thickness of MM6125 ensures it can accommodate cracks in a concrete substrate and self-heal. It’s usually applied with a thickness of 215 mils (three times thicker than most other waterproofing layers) when used with fabric reinforcement.
  4. Flexible Installation: As long as the substrate is clean and dry, it can be installed at temperatures as low as 0°F. It can be used on completely flat surfaces and also underwater.
  5. Durability: MM6125 has three levels of protection at all critical locations.
  6. Environmentally Friendly: It has a minimum 40% recycled content (validated by UL).

What are examples of projects when HYDROTECH was used?
